Eggs Prepped and Boxes Packed!

Christe LePeau, Executive Director

Over the weekend, I worked alongside my kids to put together Easter care packages for our kinship families. To be clear- they are not always so eager to be helpful (especially when it comes to their chores around the house), but I think their curiosity around what we put in our boxes works in my favor, and I’ll take it!

My younger kids, age 5 and 8, were happy to help me stuff over 140 easter eggs with chocolates, gum, and candies. The worked diligently, sometimes even sneaking in two pieces of chocolate as a special surprise for our friends.

Once we started packing up the boxes, my teen year old took time, based on the age of the kids in the home, to decide what to include in each box. Board books and play doh cups were gifted for families with littles. Families with older kids will receive our current favorite game, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and a Easter Mad Libs booklet, both guaranteed to inspire some silliness and fun!

Though simple in principle, our care packages provide an easy way for kinship families to receive a small taste of the kind of support that we provide.

Here at Seeds Community Center, we care about the whole kinship family and understand the support kinship families need is multifaceted. Our care packages are an easy onramp for new families to learn about who we are and the programs we provide.

Each box we pack represents one family who has stepped up and said yes to providing care for a child in need. And we are honored to come alongside them in the process.

In a few short hours, we packed up a total of 19 boxes for Tucson area kinship families, just in time for Easter weekend.
