Farewell to Board Member, Laura
Laura Moore got her start with Seeds Community Center back in the Spring of 2020 when she helped us launch our very first fundraising event!
We took Trash & Treasure, a creative event that she had held in the past, to the next level as a fun way to raise money for SCC. The idea behind Trash & Treasure was simple- you bring the “trash” from your closet (styles you’ve grown out of or pieces that no longer fit) and look for “treasure” among other people’s donations. We spent weeks collecting donations from so many of you and then hosted a fun pop up market. Shoppers got to browse with friends while enjoying some light breakfast snacks- we even had two dressing rooms available for instant fashion shows! The whole event was so fun we knew it was time to make things more official.
Laura joined the Board of Directors in January of 2021, eager to help create connections in the Tucson community and upgrade our public face (hello, new website). In that time, Laura has lent her business savvy, media talents, and general passion for all things community to the team. Alongside her husband Lawson, she helped produce videos that highlighted the work and passion of Seeds Community Center. These videos were the focal point of our most successful fundraising campaigns to date.
No matter what she had going on, Laura was keen to loop SCC in. Sometimes that was opening up spots in her summer camps, hosting small scale fundraisers or taking professional holiday portraits for SCC families. One thing that Laura was particularly excited about was helping to create a sense of community among SCC’s valuable volunteers. She laid the groundwork to help build a cohesive volunteer team to help all of SCC’s iniativies.
The Moore family is reloacting out west to sunny San Diego for a new job opportunity, which means we have to say a tearful goodbye to one of our board members, Laura. Her energy and passion will be missed, but we are so excited for all the new things in store for her family. Thank you Laura for your dedication over the last several years to the work and vision of Seeds Community Center.
